Lendnisa Worthis

Lendnisa Worthis is a member of the West Fethilian branch of the Worthis clan. She, along with her older brother Delando, grew up in the wee hamlet in the comparatively luxurious Worthis Manor.

Those that knew her then report that Lendnisa was always a strange child; she was inquisitive and quick-witted, but lacked the carefree playfulness of most children. As a youngster, Lendnisa preferred reading the history and philosophy books in her familial library to playing dolls with girls her own age.

A defining moment in Lendnisa's life came when she was 10 years old. When Delando was sent off to Neerhemhind to receive his formal education, as was the custom for male children of upper-class Elothninian families, Lendnisa was almost blind with jealousy. She interrogated her brother about the things he was learning and what the big city was like every time he returned home, and became more and more determined to buck tradition and get an education herself.

At the age of 12, Lendnisa finally convinced her parents to send her away to school. She persuaded them on the basis that if they expected her to marry well, not only would she need to spend some time away from West Fethil to forge social ties to other suitable families, but that she would also need a strong footing in elite etiquette as well. Lendnisa, in fact, had no plans to marry at all.

In Opleneer, Lendnisa took the etiquette classes required of her, but spent the majority of her time exploring the academic side of the city. She displayed a particular interest in history and the arts. Trips home to West Fethil quickly became a source of much frustration to Lendnisa, as her parents only ever asked her about etiquette and how the search for a suitable groom was going, and were not interested in her other classes in the slightest. She kept in touch with her older brother (they are still quite close) through letters, but began making excuses to her parents about why she couldn't visit, and why she had to continue her education, etc., until they soon drifted apart and became essentially estranged. Since then, Lendnisa has returned to the Fethil only handful of times: after the death of her parents, at the birth of each of Delando's children, and(with a sense of victory about her) when she was commissioned to sculpt a monument commerating the fallen elvish compound of Alamodour .

In many ways, Lendnisa's life can be categorized as a success and a failure. In a traditional sense, she has never married, though she has been courted, and never had children, thus not fulfilling the two primary goals of an Elothninian woman of her stature. On the other hand, she is one of only four women in Elothnin who currently hold a recognized teaching position at a university, which is itself quite a feat. She is an adjunct lecturer on the performance and history of etiquette at the prestigious Gimmelthorpe Academy, and is highly regarded among etiquette scholars. She is also quite recognized for her artistic accomplishments, specifically in the form of silothil. Typically, the creation of silothil is reserved for men, but Lendnisa displayed an immense talent and passion for the art form and was granted an exception to study it. Some of her pieces are considered very innovative and compelling examples of the modern style, and reside in place of great importance.
