The Otellian Calendar

The Otellian Calendar, named for Elothnin's first ruler was created by a scholar in the year 302, while he was writing a history of the early empire. Ironically, both the scholar's name and his work have been lost to the ravages of time and the elements: the bane of books and beings alike. His dating system, however, has endured to this day in Elothnin. The calendar begins its reckoning with the estimated first year of Otellian's reign, a date that is impossible to determine accurately due to the dearth of records from that time. Jarthen's adventures begin in the year 1050, two hundred years after Lilhelndine's rise to power.
